Geriatric Nephrology

Geriatric Nephrology is a subspecialty of Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine that focuses on kidney problems. It is a relatively new specialisation in geriatrics. They who live longer may have conditions that aggravate chronic kidney disease, which frequently goes unnoticed until patients are forced to undergo dialysis.

The goal of Geriatric Nephrology is to investigate and evaluate the clinical efficacy of total and regional bone densitometry in a large population of Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) patients, as well as to identify the clinical, biological, and radiographic variables that best recognise osteopenia in CAPD patients.
