Cystoscopy and ureteroscopy

Cystoscopy and ureteroscopy are procedures that allow doctors to look inside the bladder, urethra, and sometimes the ureters. A cystoscope is a device used to inspect the urethra and bladder. A ureteroscope is a device that is used to inspect the ureters. The cystoscope or ureteroscope is inserted into the urethra to see the rest of the urinary system. When the stone is discovered, the doctor can either remove it or break it up into smaller pieces. The doctor conducts these operations under anaesthetic in the hospital.
