London, capital of the United Kingdom is one of the oldest World great cities and it is one of the most cosmopolitan. It is the country economic, transportation and cultural centre. London is also known as the Square Mile. London is in the south-eastern England, lying astride the River Thames. Three out of Top Ten Museum and Galleries in the World are in London. It has four UNESCO world heritage sites: Tower of London, Maritime Greenwich, Westminster Palace and Kew Royal Botanic Gardens. London Design Festival is the world leading event of its kind which attracted more people to innovative projects. Wilton Music Hall is the world oldest surviving Music Hall which was built in 1743 and still a living piece of London musical history. London has more than 800 book shops and over 380 public libraries which includes British Library which holds the Magna Carta. London played a major role in the many films which includes Harry Potter and is the world third busiest film production centre. Over 250 festivals take place in London every year including the largest free festival the Mayors Thames Festival and Europe biggest street festival, the Notting Hill Carnival which attracts near one million people. London has 43 Universities and it is the largest concentration of higher education in Europe
